National tribute to soldiers fallen in the line of duty

On 7 April 2024, the Director-General of safe.brussels, also High Official of the Brussels-Capital Region, attended the tribute ceremony held at the Congress Column in Brussels.

This solemn occasion pays annual tribute to the ten Belgian UN peacekeepers assassinated in Rwanda in 1994, as well as to all Belgian soldiers who have fallen in the line of duty since 1945. 

During the ceremony, 254 names were read aloud in memory of these men and women who served in the pursuit of peace and security.
