Training mayors: building resilience in the face of crises
26.03.2025Crises can occur at any time and may take many different forms: floods, road collapses, gas leaks near a school, etc. Faced with these unpredictable situations, the mayors of Brussels' 19 municipalities have a central role to play: coordinating emergency services, ensuring clear and effective communication, and implementing decisions taken at a higher level in the event of a major crisis.
To support them in this mission, safe.brussels has organised two days of training dedicated to emergency planning and crisis management. This training course, designed for the mayors of Brussels, aims to equip them to meet any challenges related to security and resilience.
The training is structured around three modules:
- Skills, responsibilities and emergency planning
- Crisis management and communication
- Support and collaboration of the High official
Why is this training essential?
With crises becoming increasingly frequent and complex, it is vital that municipal authorities are prepared to respond quickly and effectively. This initiative by safe.brussels, in collaboration with all of Brussels' emergency and intervention services, aims to strengthen the capacity of local authorities to anticipate and manage emergency situations.
By equipping mayors with the necessary knowledge and tools, safe.brussels is helping to ensure a more coordinated response in the event of a crisis.
