European Council 17 & 18 April 2024

A European Summit is scheduled to take place at the European Council on Rue de la Loi, Brussels on 17 and 18 April 2024. The police will set up a security perimeter in the district, limiting access to those with the necessary authorisation.

As at previous summits, every effort is being made to avoid any disruption to local life, while ensuring the safety of heads of state, citizens and property. 

A security perimeter will be set up:
•    Rond-Point Schuman 
•    Rue Froissart from number 101 to 143
•    Rue de la Loi, between Rond-Point Schuman and Residence Palace 
•    Rue de la Loi, between Rond-Point Schuman and Boulevard Charlemagne

Some streets will be open to local traffic only (street parking will be prohibited):
•    Rue Archimède, between Rue Stevin and Rond-Point Schuman;
•    Avenue de Cortenbergh, between Rue Stevin and Rond-Point Schuman (access restricted as escorted vehicles pass);
•    Rue de la Loi, between Avenue de la Joyeuse Entrée and Rond-Point Schuman;
•    Avenue de la Joyeuse Entrée;
•    Avenue d’Auderghem, between Avenue de la Joyeuse Entrée and Rond-Point Schuman;
•    Rue Breydel;
•    Rue Froissart, between Rue Juste Lipse and Rue Belliard;
•    Rue Juste Lipse.


Important notes:
•    deliveries will not be possible 
•    rubbish bags, bicycles and outdoor seating may not be placed on pavements within the safety perimeter
•    all building windows must be closed 

Who can access the security perimeter? 

With a vehicle: 
•    official delegations accredited by the Council and/or the police services 
•    the emergency and police services 
•    local residents duly accredited by the police (access only via Avenue d'Auderghem) 

On foot:
•    all residents must be in possession of a pass 
•    employees and shopkeepers with an ID card and pass (application to be made via employer)
•    anyone in possession of a pass and identity card

Obtaining a pass: 

Applications must be made using the form available on www.polbru.be/eurotop. Applications must be submitted at least 72 hours before the date of the summit.

STIB and De Lijn bus routes running within the security perimeter will be diverted.
