For a safer region: new campaign for safe.brussels

18.04.2024

This week sees the launch of a new awareness campaign to promote safe.brussels and its missions. Under the "For a safer region" slogan, this campaign highlights the work in partnership carried out and support provided by the parties involved in safety and prevention in Brussels.

At the heart of this initiative is the Global Security and Prevention Plan (GSPP), drawn up and implemented by safe.brussels. This plan is based on close cooperation between the different parties active in the area of security, including those working in the field, institutions and organised civil society.  It also places an emphasis on the involvement of citizens and the local availability of public services to ensure a sense of security.

In 2021, the Government of the Brussels-Capital Region launched a call for projects to mobilise the associative sector around the GSPP 2021-2024, thus aligning the management of the subsidy programme for nonprofit organisations active in prevention and safety with its priorities.

As part of our campaign, we are highlighting three nonprofit organisations that we support:

  • Bulle ASBL: Offering a free mobile launderette service to people in need. A front-line sanitary, solidarity-based and social service is more essential than ever on the streets of Brussels!
  • Infirmiers de rue (Street Nurses): This psycho-medical-social organisation aims to get homeless people off the streets in a lasting way, focusing on the most vulnerable.
  • Casa legal: Thanks to its collaboration with lawyers, Casa legal offers social-legal guidance to victims, thus building a relationship of trust in order to provide support throughout the process for lodging a complaint.
