Violence against community service professions: the Observatory's new survey reveals the impact on police, fire fighters, and social and preventive officers

08.08.2024

Violence against police officers and fire fighters, which regularly hits the headlines, also concerns other, more social and preventive professions.

The safe.brussels Observatory has taken a global approach to the issue of violence against community service professions, studying both the police and the emergency services (SIAMU/ DBDMH), as well as certain municipal (peacekeepers) and regional (park wardens) social and preventive officers. The initial results of this research have now been published. They shed light on the feeling of safety among officers in the professions studied, and on how this has evolved during the health crisis we have experienced in recent years.
